Start with the current update

Stable 40423 (22 October) improves HUD, station-model, vehicle-store and multi-mod performance. Steam Stable 40425 (24 October) fixes the RTX 50xx crash with NVIDIA GeForce 621.01. Check your installed build; the 40425 entry explicitly names Steam and does not confirm Epic or GOG availability.

RTX 50xx crashes with GeForce 621.01

For this GPU and driver combination, install Steam build 40425 or later before retesting. The 22 October advice to wait for a hotfix predates this release. Other stores need their own update confirmation; this fix is not a claim that every NVIDIA crash is resolved.

Use the same scene for each comparison

  1. Record the save, camera view, resolution and graphics preset.
  2. Compare while paused and while the simulation runs. Note whether camera movement or busy simulation is associated with the slowdown.
  3. Try a lower preset or resolution scale, then return to the same camera view.
  4. Close heavy background tasks and check the laptop power state.
  5. For a modded map, compare a separate small test map. Change one condition at a time.

DLSS is not the same as resolution scale

The manual’s Graphics section lists resolution scale, anti-aliasing, reflections and other visual controls. It does not document DLSS. That absence alone does not prove the feature can never exist, but it is not enough to publish an enable-DLSS recipe or promise frame generation.

What Process Lasso can address

Bitsum documents ProBalance as temporarily reducing the priority of CPU-heavy background processes to preserve responsiveness. That is a background-contention tool, not a verified TF3 FPS fix. It cannot be assumed to remove a simulation bottleneck or a rendering bug.

Keep a baseline and compare the same scene. Use the tool’s log to see whether it actually restrained another process; do not infer a benefit merely from having it installed.
